FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Where are news stored?

By default, news are stored on a file system in user's home folder under ".newsinjector".

On Windows this is usually:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\.newsinjector

On Linux/Unix this is:

~/.newsinjector/

You can change this in newsinjector-conf.xml file.

How to disable news feed creation and deletion?

Feed creation may be disabled by editing newsinjector-conf.xml file.

Feed deletion may be disabled for all feeds by editing newsinjector-conf.xml file or for each news feed separately by editing news feed configuration file feed-config.xml available in news directory for each feed, e.g.

~/.newsinjector/feed-default/feed-config.xml

I have copied the HTML snippet from the "Integration" tab into my file "index.html" but no news are visible. Why?

Make sure you load the "index.html" file from a web server, i.e. the URL in your browser starts with "http://" instead of "file://".

The HTML page must be served from a web server. If you try to include news into a static HTML file loaded directly from a file system, your web browser will restrict execution of JavaScript and no news will be visible.

How to protect NewsInjector?

There are two options to protect NewsInjector so only authorized users may write and modify news.

If you are using apache, make sure to leave following URLs unprotected:

  • /newsinjector/<feed-name>.javascript
  • /newsinjector/<feed-name>.rss
  • /newsinjector/newscss/

I do not have a credit card. How can I pay for the NewsInjector license?

There are two ways you may pay without a credit card:
  • Sign-up for a PayPal account. PayPal may withdraw money from your bank account in many countries or you may transfer money from your bank account to your PayPal account. Afterwards you may buy the NewsInjector license using the standard form on the Buy page without the need of a credit card.
  • Pay directly to my bank account in Germany. Please send an email to support@newsinjector.com and I will send you the details.
